The NGO DARPAN Portal is an online portal run by NITI Aayog to create a centralized database of NGOs/VOs and facilitate their interaction with government departments.
Any Non-Profit Organization (NPO) registered as a Trust, Society, or Section 8 Company (and other eligible NPO forms like charitable associations) can register on the portal.
Registration provides a unique ID which is mandatory for applying for many government grants and schemes. It also enhances credibility and simplifies interaction with government departments.
- NGO registration certificate (Trust/Society/Section-8 documents)
- Address proof of the NGO
- Identity proofs of key members (PAN/Aadhaar)
- Bank account details and cancelled cheque/bank statement
- Details of grants/donations received (last 5 years) where applicable
Visit the official portal, click Login/Register → Sign Up, complete the onboarding form, verify mobile via OTP, fill profile details and upload required documents.
The DARPAN ID is a unique identifier generated by the portal after successful registration. It is used for future correspondence, grant applications and as proof of registration on the platform.
Registration on the government portal is free of charge. (Third-party agencies may charge consultancy fees — the portal itself does not.)
